Ecommerce SEO agency for New Zealand online stores
Online stores have hundreds or thousands of pages competing with Trade Me, The Market, Amazon Australia and every other NZ retailer in your category. Ecommerce SEO makes sure the right pages are indexed, the right ones rank, and shoppers who land on them buy.
The problems we fix most often on NZ stores
Collection pages that don't rank
Category pages are where most ecommerce search traffic lands, yet they usually have one line of text and a generic title. We give them real content, internal links and the right schema.
Thousands of duplicate URLs
Filters, sorting, pagination and Shopify's product-in-collection URLs create duplicates that waste crawl budget. We set canonicals, parameter rules and robots directives so Google crawls what matters.
Products with no search demand
Product titles copied from suppliers rarely match what Kiwis type. We rewrite titles and descriptions around real queries and add Product schema so prices and stock appear in results.
Slow themes and app bloat
Every app adds scripts. We measure Core Web Vitals on your real traffic and remove or defer what's hurting conversions.
Discontinued products
Out-of-stock and discontinued items either 404 or stay indexed forever. We set rules for each case so you keep the authority those pages earned.
No content beyond products
Buying guides, comparisons and care guides capture shoppers before they know what to buy, and are what AI Overviews cite.

Questions about ecommerce SEO
Do you work with Shopify?
Yes, Shopify and Shopify Plus are the most common platforms among our ecommerce clients. We handle theme-level speed, collection structure, duplicate URL handling, app bloat and structured data within Shopify's constraints.
Should I write descriptions for every product?
Not at first. We prioritise collection pages and your top-selling or highest-margin products, then expand. Unique descriptions on products nobody searches for are a poor use of budget.
How do you handle out-of-stock products?
With a rule for each case: temporarily out of stock stays live with a back-in-stock option; permanently discontinued redirects to the closest alternative or category. Deleting pages wholesale throws away rankings.
Can you help us compete with Trade Me and Amazon?
Not head-on for generic terms, but yes for the specific, considered searches where a specialist store wins: brand plus model, use-case queries, buying guides and NZ-specific availability. That's where most independent stores' profitable organic traffic comes from.
